EDUCATION
Children are the world’s most valuable resources and the best hope for the future. In Child Care Institutions (CCIs) (Kalyani Niwas, Shishu Greh, Open Shelter for Boys, Ashaneer) of Assam Child And Women’s Welfare Society (ACWWS) not only provides shelter to children for care and protection but also provides education based on their age, capabilities and interest, children are prepared for formal schooling. Children are sent to lower primary and higher secondary school as per their age group and level of education. Extra coaching classes are arranged for the Children of class 10 and class 12 at CCIs. Focus on their overall development of both mental and physical development through education.
AWARENESS & NETWORKING
Shishu Greh organizes meeting and build network with stakeholders at community level, Hospitals, Police etc to create awareness on role and responsibilities of Shishu Greh towards the orphan, abandoned or surrendered children and on legal process of adoption as the rules laid down in Adoption Regulation 2022 and Juvenile Justice (Care and protection of Children) Amendment Act, 2021.
IN-HOUSE TRAINING
In-House training is provided to the staff of all four CCIs run by the Organization from time to time on various important topic related to their programme.
SPONSORSHIP
ACAWWS is running sponsorship programme for the children of BPL family from the community and to the children of Kalyani Niwas and Shishu Greh for education and special care respectively. Children with good academic marks get sponsorship for education and children with special need, malnourished etc for special care.
PLACEMENT & INTERNSHIP
Student from different Universities, colleges are placed in Internship at all project of ACAWWS. Volunteer services option also available to students and interested citizens. The volunters are falicitated with certificate at the end of their activities.
OBSERVATION OF CHILDREN’S DAY
Each year on 14th November, ACWWS celebrated Children’s Day by organizing different event and competition among the children of community, CCIs and students of different school where prizes are distributed among the winners.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETINGS
Executive committee meetings are held thrice in a year to review the activities of the organization and meetings are attended by the members of Executive Committee.
AWARDS TO TOPPER STUDENT
Awards are given to the toppers of Graduation in University at different subjects every year and also to the winner of various competition of Children’s Day programme on the day of celebration of Children’s Day.
Different awards for different categories are:
- Anjana Phukan Memorial Award to HSLC topper.
- Gita Chaliha Memorial Award to topper among girls in Graduate level with History Major.
- Parul Phukan Memorial Award to best girl Student in HSSLC examination (Arts stream).
- Mrinalini Devi Goswami Memorial Awardto best girl Student in HSSLC examination (Science stream).
- Ram Goswami Memorial Award to best girl Student in HSSLC examination (Commerce stream).
- Arup Bora & Debendra Nath Bora Memorial Award to Recitation winner in Children’s Day competition.
- Rama Kanta Barua Memorial Award to the winner of State Level Painting Competiton.
- Dr Hara Nath Hazarika Memorial Award to the winner of Inter School Quize Competition, Kamrup (M).
- Dr.Swapna Baruah Memorial Award to best girl student in BDS, Assam.
- Lalit Ch. Hazarika Memorial Award to best Girl Student in Botany.
- Swarna Lata Memorial Award for felicitation of Bravery Children.
STANDING COMMITTEE MEETING
Standing committee meetings are held if there is any important matter to discuss or if to take any immediate decision for the organization in the presence of members of General Body.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING(AGM)
AGM is held once in a year and General and life members of the Organization attends the meeting and as per memorandum of the organization in every four year members of General Body is changed by selection process.
OBSERVATION OF STATE LEVEL PAINTING COMPITION
State level painting completion is organized among children of 5 to 18 years of age in four different groups. These are White group for 11 to 15 years, Green Group from 5 to 10 years, special group Red from 11 to 18 years and special group Yellow from 5 to 10 years. Special group Red and Yellow are for children with Special Need respectively.
OBSERVATION OF NATIONAL GIRLS’ CHILD DAY
According to Ministry of WCD, Govt.of India, National Girls’ Child Day is meant to create awareness about the rights of a girl, support the nation’s girl children, eliminate gender biases, and emphasise the importance of education, health and nutrition. ACWWS observe Girls’ Child Day every year on 24th January at Kalyani Nivas.
VOCATIONAL TRAINING
Vocational training for children in CCI is an important activity so that he/she may pick the most suitable and lucrative option, which would help him/her, beeconomically independent, in the long-term. By seeing their age and interest, children of Kalyani Niwas and Ashaneer are engaged in different types of skill development training like tailoring, cutting, computer, beautician, painting etc. inside and outside the campus with the permission of competent authority.
NUTRITION TO CHILD
Nutritional diet provides to the children as per their age group. Diet list has been maintained in all four CCIs for each age group children. Special diet provides to the children as per advised of doctor during their illness or any children suffering from Malnutrition or as per detected diseases.
RECREATIONAL FACILITIES
Children in the all four CCIs are provided with play items, tri-cycles, sea-saw, sliders, swing, etc for their recreation as per their age group. There is open front courtyard in the campus of Kalyani Niwas, Ashaneer, ShishuGreh and open shelter for Boys and an activities/recreational room in the home.
