About ACWWS
Assam Child and Women’s Welfare Society (ACWWS) is a pioneer organization in the field of child protection and women’s welfare in Assam. Established in 1967 and headquartered in Guwahati since 1972, the Society has been consistently working to uphold the rights, safety, and well-being of children and women across the state.
For decades, ACWWS has remained committed to providing comprehensive care and support to vulnerable groups. The organization offers shelter and protection to abandoned, surrendered, and orphaned children, along with essential medical, nutritional, and developmental services. It also delivers rehabilitation and early-intervention support for children with special needs, as well as vocational and life-skill development initiatives aimed at long-term empowerment.
ACWWS plays a significant role in facilitating adoption services within India and abroad, ensuring that every child without parental care has the opportunity to grow in a secure and nurturing family environment. To strengthen its outreach, ACWWS functions through district branches in Golaghat and Darrang, enabling effective service delivery and community engagement at the grassroots level. Guided by its longstanding commitment and professional approach, the Society continues to work towards creating a safer, more inclusive, and child-friendly Assam.
